In order to grow your business, it is important to understand geo arbitrage, which is hiring people to outsource tasks, arbitraging around the world. It's not about trying to get everybody at $4 an hour, because it's not going to happen. A horror story you hear all the time is people trying to get high level copywriters for $4 an hour because they can. You hear you can get staff at $4 an hour, you're going to hire everyone at $4 an hour. Realistically you're not going to get the quality. You've got to think, I would normally pay, in the western world, $50 an hour for this.
Through geo arbitrage you can get that for $15 an hour, maybe $20, so you're still getting a huge discount on what you would normally pay. You have to set that benchmark first. Have that mental benchmark of what is this really worth in the western world? Then use geo arbitrage to look at Russia, India, the Philippines to get that skill set, outsourcing consultants at a cheaper rate.
You don't want to lower the skill set of the employee you are trying to put on your team as well because that won't get you anywhere. So it's really about the currency fluctuations is where the benefit comes in, not because you're going to get cheaper or lesser skilled people. You want to become outcome focused. It's about getting the outcome you want for the cheapest possible price through geo arbitrage.
There are certain types of work you can outsource tasks in your business and for these there are many the geo arbitrage opportunities. Website development, local, here in Australia and the US, a website can be from $3,000 to $10,000. A client of mine I've been coaching just got a website about three weeks before I started working with him. He paid $10,000 for a six page static website with no CMS. He got a bad deal. You can get that done for $200 if you know where to look.
Graphic design, logo work, it's $500 at least for a logo these days, up to $2000. Using geo arbitrage you get some decent work for $50. Article writing, you can get five hundred word articles for $5. This client I referred to, is having to do a lot of writing in his space, not for SEO benefit which we'll talk about later, but just article writing, this is the way he's getting his name out there in his business. He does it himself and he hates it. I explained that he could get quality articles written for $5 each. It blew his mind that he can just outsource that part of his business.
You also need to outsource tasks so you can take care of your customers and continue to grow your business. You would like to look at the value of customer service so you can maintain your clients, and it is worth outsourcing that part of the task. Some lighter tasks you can outsource are those related to flowers, vacations, diary management among others. I have a full time virtual assistant in the Philippines who handles all those fun things for me personally and I really love that part of managing my online business today.
