It can be very satisfying to decorate your youngster's room. However, it is important to keep in mind that a lot of children really take pleasure in participating in the furnishing process. By involving your child in the decorating selections, they will have more possession of the room. Often times this translates into more rigorous efforts on his or her part to keep their bedrooms neat and tidy. It makes sense that if they contributed to creating the room, it will be natural for him or her to feel more in charge of keeping everything neat. Here are a few room embellishing projects that are easy enough for children to help with.
Personalized Artwork
In all probability, your son or daughter has been the creator of many pieces of art over time. Children's art projects from school land in drawers and bins far too frequently. Rather than storing them away, bring them out and make use of them as a part of your child's room decor. All you need to do is put some of them in 8x10 picture frames, and then hang them up on the walls for display. Your child will be so proud to see their artwork displayed prominently. You can use paintings, drawings, sketches or nearly anything else that looks good in the room. Swap the fine art out periodically so that you are able to display some new creations.
Handprint Artwork
Even your youngest child will be able to help make art with their hands. The only things you need are some disposable pans made out of aluminum, some papers or the wall you are going to paint, and a number of colors of acrylic craft or interior paint. Before you start, protect the area you are working over with something such as a drop cloth. Then, put a color of paint into the bottom of every disposable dish, and spread it all around. Help your youngster place the palm of their hand into a dish of paint, and then use that hand to create a print directly on a wall. To make an even cuter and more decorative look, show your kid how to make a line of handprints across all of the wall surfaces at the height of a chair rail. Simply use a yardstick and a pencil to measure and mark the wall at the proper height, drawing a pale pencil line around the whole room perimeter. Then all your kid has left to do is create painted handprints all along the line with one color or maybe even more. Another option would be to merely have your child make handprints on sheets of paper, and then place their creations in picture frames to hang on the walls. This is a fun way to combine an art project with interesting room decor.
Coloring Book Art
Mere coloring book pages may also be used to create eye-catching artwork for your child's room. Select a themed coloring book that will match the overall style of the bedroom. Then, provide to your child the book and a big box of crayons. They will have a wonderful time coloring images that can then double as wall art. Just display a few of their works of art in picture frames on the wall. Not only will their room look fantastic, but your youngster will also feel the pleasure of knowing that they helped with furnishing the room. Once you have a couple pages framed, you may continue to update them every once in a while with new colored in pages, to keep the whole look fresh.
Your children will love these enjoyable and simple projects. They will enable your kids to show their creativity, and your kids will enjoy the final project for a long time.
