Are you one of those who had taken the risk of auditioning for a singing contest and ended up downcast rejected by the judges? Or have you ever dreamed of trying to audition for the singing competition in your city, in your school, or wherever? If you are, then read more and you'll find the best tips to help you get you through the audition phase.
There are actually so many things needed to be considered in an audition. These 5 basic things will help you do just fine.
1. Choose a song that fits you. A lot of people ruin their chance to fame just because they picked the wrong song. The first thing to remember is to pick a song that is appropriate to your range. In line with that, you must know your range. Pick a song that will showcase your range properly and also will fit your style. Don't hurry in selecting a song. It's also advisable to get someone else's opinion whether the song fits you or not.
2. Sing the best part only. You don't need to sing the whole song. Usually, auditions are packed with hopefuls and the judges have limited time to go through all of them. They normally give each person an average of 5 minutes to perform. You have to give your very best within this little time. It's best to sing the best part of the song, that is, the climax. This may either be the chorus of the song or the bridge. It's the part where the full blast of the emotions of a song is poured out.
3. Memorize your song perfectly. You should practice your song choice at least a week before the audition date. You must be able to sing the song perfectly without consciously thinking of the lyrics. The reason behind this is that it is common to forget the lyrics when you're overwhelmed by anxiety during the audition.
4. Don't overdo your outfit. You want the judges to focus on your vocals and your performance not on your crazy look. Remember, it's a singing competition not a fashion show. Dress simply and presentably.
5. You must be early! It should be your goal to be earlier than everybody else and be part of the first 10 - 20 people to audition. You have to understand that judges are exhausted and irritable as hours pass. You want to meet these judges when their mood is still cool and relaxed. Being there early is a must.
